Diamonds

Are you looking for a diamond?  Are you confused or nervous about what you might get?

Are you aware of the different treatments  technology has come up with to make poor quality diamonds appear to be better?

You certainly should be!

We have been trained and certified by the Gemological Institute of America in Diamonds and Diamond Grading in order to help you make the right choice. We offer any size, shape or quality diamond you desire.  Whether your looking for a certified or non certified diamond we can help you locate the diamond  your looking for if it's not in our inventory.

What is a certified diamond?

A certified diamond is one that has been graded by a laboratory and comes with a certificate from that laboratory or company which states all the characteristic's of that particular diamond.  These include cut (not only the shape of the diamond but the proportions of it), color grade, clarity grade and weight.  Most  include the proportion or symmetry of the diamond which tells you how well the diamond is cut and polished. A cert from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is a preferred cert as this is the laboratory that created this grading system and we consider most accurate and consistent.  This system is used world wide.   All of the factors above are taken into consideration when figuring the value of the diamond.  A "cert" does not tell you how much the diamond is worth.  For that you need an appraisal.

What is an appraisal and why do I need one?

An appraisal uses all of the factors above along with retail replacement value for a diamond or jewelry item with same characteristic's.  In order to get your diamond or jewelry item insured, we suggest that you send a copy of the appraisal to your insurance company and ask that it be scheduled on your policy.  The retail replacement value of the item, is the average price one should expect to pay considering numerous jewelry merchants in the area.  A properly done appraisal should state color, clarity, and weight and should consider other factors such as cut, finish, fluorescence, etc.
